Danbury Wedding Photographer :: Outdoor Engagement Session :: Do I really need engagement session before my wedding?

May 29, 2017 engagements

How to find a perfect wedding photographer? What wedding package is best? Should I have engagement session before the wedding? If you are soon getting married you might have already asked yourself these  questions.

The good news is that today there are so many photographers out there that you will have many options to choose a perfect one. The one that will document this big day for you the way you want. The bad news is that… there are so many that sometimes it just too overwhelming to decide which one.

I cannot stress enough the importance of a professional engagement session. This is why I decided to include it in my most popular wedding packages and it is often chosen by many of my clients. Do I really need the engagement session? You may ask yourself this question before you book a perfect wedding photographer.

From experience I can tell you that yes, you do need one.  Here’s why.

First of all, by having an engagement session before the wedding, you will really get to know your photographer. It is hard to really get to know them or their shooting style only looking at their published photographs or only during the pre-consultation before the wedding. Knowing the workflow and style of your wedding photographer will put you at ease and make you feel more relaxed before the wedding day. This will make your wedding day smoother.

Another reason is that by having professional engagement session you will learn how to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Sometimes it is hard to relax and act naturally but you don’t want to wait for the wedding day to learn how to act. Many couples are extremely nervous because they are photographed together for the first time as a couple. Engagement session is a perfect way to practice to feel comfortable.

With that said, you are in for a treat with the photographs we took during engagement session for Katie and Tom. There are just too many great shots to share but I chose my absolute favorite ones. And have I mentioned how much I enjoyed this session.
